Man dies after drowning in Guilderland

Guilderland police are investigating a drowning.

Police say it happened Monday night at French’s Hollow – near the Watervliet Reservoir.

Daniel Maldonado, 33, was pulled out of the water by bystanders, who were giving him CPR.

Police say Maldonado went into the water, but didn’t know how to swim.

He was taken to Albany Medical Center, and later died.

Investigators say because French’s Hollow is so close to the reservoir and is rugged terrain, no swimming is allowed there.
