Missouri father, daughter team up on heart surgeries

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A Missouri father and daughter are bringing new meaning to the term "family medicine."
Dr. Sophia Roberts is a second year Washington University resident, training to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. Less than 5% of heart surgeons are women. However, making this even more unique, is that the doctor she’s assisting is her dad.
Following her father’s footsteps began at an early age. Her path cemented after dinners out with the family, when people would come up to the table to praise her dad. From then on, she was a girl who preferred scrubs to skirts.
