The annual celebration of Martin Luther King Day at the Empire State Plaza in Albany was cancelled this year because of COVID.

The city of Albany did not hold its annual community march on MLK Day, because of the snowy forecast.

However, there were virtual ceremonies.

Activists and different organizations are focusing on several key issues as they remember and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

More than 20 organizations held a webinar focusing on racial issues, civil rights, labor justice, voting rights and more.

They also held a roundtable discussion of the 2021 candidates of color for Troy and Rensselaer County.

They read poems from local artists and spoke about how Dr. King’s legacy still inspires today.

Hear about that and also learn how Gov. Hochul honored Dr. King on Monday, by watching the video of Rachel Tiede’s story.
