A few students across the Capital Region protested masks in schools on Friday.

The protests happened at Schalmont, Duanesburg and Mohonasen.

The superintendent of the Mohonasen School District says five high school students and three middle schoolers attempted to come to school with no masks.

The school sent out a letter Thursday night to parents, explaining if students come without a mask, they will first be reminded of the rules, then offered a mask. Finally, their parents will need to pick them up if they refuse to put one on.

Other area school districts with recent mask mandate protests include Greenville and Ballston Spa.

Gov. Hochul has said she will revisit the mandate in early March.
