Albany Med is shining the light on a powerful new weapon in the fight against bladder cancer.

The tool helps doctors locate new tumors, which are a recurring problem with this cancer.

The tumors can be small and difficult for doctors to see when they’re developing.

The technology uses blue light, which highlights the tumors, causing them to glow pink, so doctors can easily see and treat them.

Next year, the American Cancer Society estimates there will be more than 80,000 new cases of bladder cancer, with more than 17,000 deaths as a result.
