People will now be able to start taking the train from New York City to Pittsfield this summer.

NewsChannel 13’s media partners at the Berkshire Eagle report CSX, the railroad that owns the tracks, has agreed to let Amtrak operate on them to run its proposed Berkshire Flyer Route.

A pilot for the route was supposed to begin back in 2020 but was delayed.

The hope is to attract more tourists to the Berkshires.
