New York state is bumping up patrols for St. Patrick’s Day.

Gov. Hochul sent out numbers Wednesday to highlight just how widespread the issue of drinking and driving is across the state.

During the 2021 St. Patrick’s Day campaign, more than 1,400 New Yorkers were ticketed for impaired driving, 610 were caught distracted driving and 280 violated the "Move Over Law."

More than 33,000 drivers were ticketed for other violations.

In addition, nearly 1,300 drivers were caught not wearing a seatbelt, and more than 10,000 were caught speeding.

That’s more than 47,000 traffic violations over just St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
