Online driver’s permit test may encourage cheating

A new program that allows New Yorkers to obtain driver’s permit online may continue to encourage cheating.

Employees with the State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) told the Times Union that thousands of people have taken advantage of the program during the pandemic. They say some let other people sit in for them to take the test, some people getting perfect scores.

The 50 question test normally takes about 45 minutes to an hour to take. The DMV has found that about half of those who took the test a second time fail.
