In honor of National Apprenticeship Week, Schenectady ARC is joining force with SUNY Schenectady to bring more people to the workforce.

With the help of the state Labor Department, the three organizations are collaborating on the College for Me program. The program trains people to care for and empower people with disabilities.

It’s an important role for agencies like the ARC, but organizers of today’s event agree it can be challenging to fill those positions.

“The entry-level pay certainly is a challenge and is something that we are advocating for with our funders, but there’s so many opportunities for career advancement once you get some experience in the field. The College for Me program really sets people up for that,” says Jane Canale, associate executive director of HR for Schenectady ARC.

Schenectady ARC is actively recruiting for this program now. So reach out if you are interested.
