The Berkshire County District Attorney’s office has obtained 48 separate indictments of a man from Pittsfield. He’s accused of stealing more than $400,000.

Fred Senter, 40, is accused of contracting and accepting down payments from more than 40 victims to build steel structures.

However, authorities say he had no intent to complete the work as owner of Northern Steel Buildings & Structures.

Senter allegedly scammed people in five states between February 2020 and September of last year.

He was arraigned Thursday afternoon, and is being held on $25,000 bail.
