Rain shuts down part of Erie Canal

The constant rain has forced a large section of the Erie Canal to shut down. The canal was closed to all traffic Monday morning from Lock E-2 in Waterford all the way to Lock E-19 in Frankfort due to high water and heavy rain.
The Canal Corporation says you can register for updates at through the “Notice to Mariners” program at www.canals.ny.gov.
