The man shot by Albany Police after he allegedly charged at an officer armed with a knife has had a request denied for his release.

NewsChannel 13 obtained an application filed by Jordan Young’s attorney, asking for him to be released on his own recognizance. That request was denied in Albany County Court this week.

The application details the condition Young is in after being shot by an officer on January 24.

NewsChannel 13 has shared the body cam video from that night.

The document describes the wounds in Young’s stomach are still open, and he still is undergoing surgeries.

It also says Young suffers from bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder.

His attorney in this application argues Young was off his medication for a few months leading up to the night he encountered Albany police.

An indictment in this case is expected by the end of this month.
