This weekend, a march and rally is planned for community members to call for the Dunn landfill in Rensselaer to close.

The event is being organized in part by the graduating class of the Rensselaer City School District.

There’s been public hearings and protests addressing potential long-term health impacts and learning deficits suffered by students at the Rensselaer City Schools located just 200 feet from the dump.

The march is set to begin at Rensselaer High School and go past the entrance of the landfill and will end up near the Questar wing of the school district campus.

Public officials, including those from Rensselaer’s Environmental Coalition, along with neighbors and other members of the community are planning to participate.
