Residents received $100 gift cards to turn in handguns

The Amsterdam Police Department teamed up with Trinity Lutheran Church to host a gun buy back event.
Organizers say for this amnesty program, they’re not interested in exactly how people got the guns. They just want to get unwanted weapons out of homes, so they stay off the streets and out of the wrong hands.
Residents received $100 dollar gift cards for each handgun they turned in.
