R.I. high schooler creates special night for athletes with disabilities

WARWICK, R.I. – The famous quote "There’s no I in team" is best used to describe the actions of a Warwick high school student athlete who went above and beyond to make classmates on a special team feel seen. Her efforts were a slam-dunk.

The unified team includes many kids with disabilities, along with helpers.

Val Landry, a sophomore at Pilgrim High School, knows firsthand how important it is to have a senior night. She used her own money and time to plan a sweet surprise, throwing a special senior night for the team at her school, and even the team they compete against.
