SARATOGA SPRINGS – Many Capital Region students head back to school this week, and a local barber is making sure kids will go back, looking and feeling their best.
For the fifth year in a row, Tru Cutz Barber Shop in Saratoga Springs is hosting its back-to-school event.
Children pre-k through 12th grade can get a free haircut, as well as a free book bag full of school supplies.
Owner Lamont Washington says seeing the look on the young faces makes this event worth it every year.
"They’re so happy, and they go back to school feeling so much more confident,” said Washington. “The world we live in, kids can be rough, and kids can make kids feel insecure. By doing this, no kid has to feel insecure. We make sure that they go to school with a fresh haircut, looking, feeling, and starting their school year off on the best foot possible."
The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The free haircuts wrap-up Tuesday.
