State police say three vehicles were involved in a weekend crash on the Northway that killed two people.

It happened in Malta, just before 4 a.m. Sunday. A Honda SUV driving south was rear-ended by a Buick SUV that ended up crossing the median and came to a rest in the center lane on the northbound side.

The driver, 28-year-old Jessica Dorronsoro of Halfmoon, was then being helped by a passing driver, 54-year-old David Johnson from Stony Creek. They were standing behind Dorronsoro’s SUV when they were hit by a box truck going north. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people from the SUV that was rear-ended were taken to Saratoga Hospital for evaluation.
