It was a vegan’s paradise in downtown Troy Sunday.

The “Veg-Out” Vegan Festival was held around Monument Square in downtown Troy. It is the first and only all-vegan food festival in the Capital Region.

There were samplings from many local restaurants and food vendors. The event was meant to showcase how delicious a vegan, cruelty-free and plant-based food can be. It also gave restaurants a chance to share the vegan options they offer on their menus.

“This is an event for everyone. We have a huge variety of food offerings here today and this is an opportunity to showcase that vegan food is something that is really accessible, it’s available at so many restaurants,” said Andrea Shaye.

Shaye is a member of Capital Region Vegan Network. The organization is mainly comprised of volunteers.

Along with many vendors, the event included live music, drinks and other fun activities.

This was the festival’s second year in Troy.
