Sen. Gillibrand introduces bill to help seniors who have been scammed

New York has seen a rise in scams during the pandemic. With many scams targeting seniors. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has introduced a bill aimed at protecting those vulnerable adults.

Senator Gillibrand has introduced the Senior Financial Empowerment Act. It ensures older adults have access to information regarding financial abuse. Attorney General Letitia James supports the bill because she says her mom was taken advantage of.

Senator Gillibrand says seniors in New York are estimated to lose $1.5 billion dollars every year to financial scams and abuse.
