State of emergency issued in preparation of high wind warnings

Governor Hochul announced a state of emergency Saturday morning in anticipation of damaging winds expected to move across the state through the evening.

High wind warnings have been issued for multiple counties in Western and Northern New York. Wind gust are expected to reach 60 to 70 miles per hour at their peak.

The state of emergency is in place until late Saturday evening. Governor Hochul has prepared multiple utility companies to be on standby in preparation.
