A new study finds that sugary drinks impact behavior and math scores of preschool kids.

Investigators randomly assigned 462 children to drink sugary or artificially sweetened drinks.

The results were that one sugary drink induced an initial relaxing effect for the boys before making them more restless. However, the girls’ behavior didn’t change.

Researchers also found a negative effect on math scores for boys and a positive effect for girls.
