Talented Schenectady artist finds success by following her dream

Artist Le’liece Lassiter of Schenectady almost talked herself out of following her dream. Initially, the 22-year-old woman was considering a career that seemed more stable – in biology.
However, happiness won out of just paying the bills, so she went all in and decided after graduating from UAlbany Summa Cum Laude, she would take a risk and let art lead the way for her – and boy it has.
In fact, one of her pieces of artwork sold in a Long Beach, California gallery for $800.
However, it gets better. After a hair care product owner saw some of her work on social media, Lassiter was invited to submit her work as part of a design contest for the woman’s product – and she won.
Lassiter feels the sky’s the limit, but she also remembers that she almost didn’t say yes to art.
