Texas band teacher quarterfinalist for special Grammy Award

It may be summer, but that hasn’t stopped some students from heading back to the classroom. They’re excited for a chance to hone their musical skills thanks to a dedicated teacher, Derrick Walker. In fact, Walker is up for a big award, a shot at heading to the Grammy’s next year.

He is a quarterfinalist for the Grammy’s "Music Educator of the Year."

If he wins, Walker would be heading to the Grammy’s in 2022.

However, he wanted to brag about his senior band members.
