The lines at airport security are starting to fill up again, and TSA is looking to hire officers for the Albany International Airport.

"It is definitely important for us to prepare for the summer. We are always ahead of the game on that," said Ruth Germani, a spokesperson for TSA.

TSA is also preparing for some current officers to start leaving the field.

"We are approaching our 20 year TSA anniversary. When we hit that, some folks have been here for 20 years, which is a significant amount of time. At that time, they may want to retire, so we need to be prepared for that as well," she added.

To recruit new officers, the agency is trying to make it easy for people to learn more about the career and get more information. Each Thursday, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m, during the month of February, you’ll be able to find a TSA recruitment table near the baggage claim. Officers are there to help guide people through the application process and answer questions.

They will also highlight some benefits like a starting rate of $18.99 an hour, a $1,000 hiring bonus, and you don’t need experience to apply.

The benefits are catching the attention of many in the Albany area.

"The benefits are a lot better," said Charles Crivelli, who stopped by the recruitment table. "It’s good pay, plus they give their bonuses."

With many Americans leaving their jobs in search of something new, TSA is hoping you’ll consider joining its team.
