Union reaches deal with Albany for pandemic bonus checks

City employees who are part of the Albany Blue-Collar Workers Union will soon be getting checks for their work during the pandemic.

This impacts employees of the Department of General Services. Originally their checks were not going to be sent out because the union president filed a demand to negotiate those payments.

The mayor’s office now says they have waived the right to negotiate.

Workers will be getting $2 for every hour worked during the pandemic.

The money comes from the millions of dollars the city received from the American Rescue Plan.
