MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) – Vermont is going to begin delivering 500,000 free COVID-19 rapid tests for people across the state.

The state will be using a program delivered by the National Institutes of Health. The details of the program will become available next week. People will order tests online, and they will be delivered to their homes.

Gov. Phil Scott says it’s hoped that in the near future, rapid tests will be readily available at local pharmacies for lower prices, but there is a need "to bridge the gap between where we are today and where things will be in the months ahead."
