TROY – After serving as a member of the Troy Police Department for 23 years, Chief Brian Owens is hanging up his cap. A walking out ceremony was held on Monday.

Owens says serving as the chief for the Troy Police Department hasn’t been without its challenges.

"The stress of this position has weighed heavily on me, worrying about your safety, the safety of the good people of Troy," he said.

Like many cities in the Capital Region, the city of Troy hasn’t been immune to violence.

Despite the challenges and stress, it was a bittersweet moment for Chief Owens as he walked out of the department for the last time.
