NewsChannel 13 salutes Carl & Lora Gersch of Castleton.

Carl grew up in Castleton and Lora grew up in Illinois.

They joined the Coast Guard out of high school and met at a roller rink while stationed in Seattle to serve in World War II.

After the war, they both settled in the Capital Region.
