NewsChannel 13 salutes U.S. Army Air Force Corporal Ernest Gardner of Amsterdam.

The marine engineer served in World War II, and was stationed in Labrador and was later in Africa.

That includes time as part of a search and rescue unit for downed fliers and seamen.
