NewsChannel 13 salutes Army Technician 4th Grade Fred Nero of Schenectady.
He served as a cook in World War II, and received the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He later worked for GE.
July 1 would have been his 112th birthday.
