Christian Penny is a home-schooled athlete from Saratoga Springs who competes with the Mohawk Homeschool Rowing Association in Rexford. The 16-year-old captured the U17 New York State high school title in May. And in June, he placed second at the national competition in Florida.

Mohawk doesn’t receive funding like traditional high school programs. So, Penny works at Saratoga Racecourse during the summer to help pay for his training. Penny is our Big Board Sports Athlete of the Week.
