ALBANY – Celebrating the career of a beloved member of the Albany Fire Department.

After 46 years, Bill Hummel worked his final shift Tuesday as battalion chief of the department.

In a Facebook post, the department says Hummel was first hired in 1978 as a city firefighter.

He became battalion chief in 1992 and has worked in that position ever since.
