Civil rights activist speaking at UAlbany

UAlbany is welcoming a civil rights activist whose impact can be felt across nearly half the country.

Adjoa Asamoah is speaking on campus at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

She developed the legislative strategy for the CROWN Act.

CROWN, which stands for “Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair,” has been signed into law by 23 states.

It aims to make discrimination based on hairstyle illegal in all 50 states.

The event is free, and you can register on UAlbany’s website.
