Clifton Park girl heads out on Make-A-Wish trip
A little girl who has gone through a lot in her 12 years got her wish to go to Disney World.
Maya Charles-Rivera and her family left from Albany for Orlando Sunday.
Newschannel 13 has been keeping up with Maya through the years.
She had a life-saving kidney transplant about a year and a half ago.
She wanted to meet Minnie and Mickey Mouse, and Make-A-Wish made it happen.
“I’m excited for my friends and family to go to Disney with me,” said Maya.
“When we learned about her wish, it completely motivated her,” said Maya’s father, Tony Rivera. “It gave her something to look forward to, which was great. She mentioned the other day, she said I’m so excited that I’m healthy and ready to do this and has got so much energy and it really gave her something to look forward to.”
Maya’s father Jim Charles says it’s been an incredible experience getting to this point.
Maya was granted the wish about a year ago, and her family decided to plan it for when she’s on summer vacation.
