Albany man accused of having ghost gun

Cohoes Police have arrested an Albany man on weapons and theft charges. Officers responded to the area of Leversee Avenue on Saturday just after 2 a.m. for a report of three men going through vehicles. Police located the men and one of the suspects, 18-year-old Ransell Segura, handed an officer a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended high-capacity magazine containing 9 rounds of ammunition, police said.

Officers responded to the area of Leversee Avenue on Saturday just after 2 a.m. for a report of three men going through vehicles. Police located the men and one of the suspects, 18-year-old Ransell Segura, handed an officer a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended high-capacity magazine containing 9 rounds of ammunition, police said.

The serial number had been defaced on the gun, which was reported stolen from North Carolina, according to investigators. 

Segura was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Cohoes City Court and released to probation with an ankle monitoring device.

Segura is due back in court on May 30 at 10 a.m.
