Colonie EMS receives $90,000 to help provide personal protective equipment.

Colonie EMS has received a $90,000 grant to help buy personal protective equipment.

The grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant program will help the department working through a four-year project to replace equipment.

This grant will allow the department to outfit the remaining employees earlier than expected.

“Our department strives to put EMTs and paramedics next to our patients immediately despite the given hazards, and firmly believes our staff must have adequate personal protection while they work to stabilize patients wherever they may be found,” said EMS Chief Paul Sugrue in a statement.” This grant allows us to compete the project now to ensure that all staff are outfitted with state-of-the-art personal protective equipment.”
