A Colonie Police officer under investigation for allegedly stealing guns from an evidence room has retired.
Sgt. George Thomaides is accused of trading guns into gun stores for store credit. He retired this weekend, two days after getting disciplinary charges, according to the Times Union.
His retirement does not mean the end of the investigation. Thomaides allegedly told evidence room clerks he was returning the guns to their owners.
