DEC monitoring fluid spill in Waterford

Fluid spill under investigation

A fliud spill in Waterford is under investigation.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation is responding to a spill in Waterford.

The spill appears to have occurred on 9th Street in the village and state canal property. An unknown amount of the substance, believed to be hydraulic fluid, entered the old Champlain Canal, DEC said.

Boons have been deployed out of an abundance of caution.

No village services have been affected by this spill.

The DEC Spill Response Unit and its contractor, Republic Services, is monitoring the situation.
