Ex-Taco Bell worker accused of stealing customer’s debit card info

A Troy woman is accused of stealing a person's debit card information while she worked at Taco Bell. State Police received a complaint from a Rensselaer County resident around 10 p.m. on Nov. 24 reporting that the card had been used without their permission. Investigators determined that the victim had used the card at the Taco Bell at 718 Hoosick Road in Brunswick earlier in the day.

A Troy woman is accused of stealing a person’s debit card information while she worked at Taco Bell.

State Police received a complaint from a Rensselaer County resident around 10 p.m. on Nov. 24 reporting that the card had been used without their permission. Investigators determined that the victim had used the card at the Taco Bell at 718 Hoosick Road in Brunswick earlier in the day.

The cashier, 24-year-old Joyal R. Kelty, is accused of taking a photos of the victim’s debit card. Later that day, police said Kelty made unauthorized withdrawals from the victim’s account.

Kelty was charged with grand larceny, unlawful possession of personal identification information and identity theft. She was issued an appearance ticket and due in Brunswick Town Court on Jan. 8.

Kelty was employed at the Taco Bell from Nov. 14 until Nov. 24. Police said she may have collected other customers’ payment information. Anyone who believes they may be a victim is asked to call State Police at 518-457-6811 or email crimetip@troopers.ny.gov.
