FDA approves over-the-counter glucose monitor
The FDA has cleared the use of the first over-the-counter continuous glucose monitor.
The new product is called Stelo. It is intended for people age 18 and older who do not use insulin such as those with diabetes treating their conditions with oral medications, or those without diabetes who want to better understand how diet and exercise impact blood sugar levels.
Stelo will be available online without a prescription this summer.
The price of the device has not been released.
