Florida man accused of having fake license plate
A man from Florida was arrested in Montgomery County for allegedly having a fake license plate on his vehicle.
Hector M. Ortiz-Jiminez, 47, was stopped by investigators in Mohawk around 7:30 Wednesday evening. He had a counterfeited copy of a New Jersey temporary tag on the rear of the vehicle, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.
Police confirmed with the Department of Motor Vehicles that the vehicle had no current registration and the temporary tag was fraudulent. Ortiz-Jiminez had driving privileges suspended in New York for not answering traffic tickets, police said.
He was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and aggravated unlicensed operation. He was also charged with traffic infractions for having an unregistered motor vehicle and broken windshield glass.
Ortiz-Jiminez was sent without bail to Montgomery County Jail without bail.
