Albany County leaders will be taking over the now-closed Gateway Sports Complex in Cohoes.

The complex used to be known as the Cohoes Community Center.

It reopened in 2020 after closing two years earlier and then closed again this past August.

County leaders who voted at Monday night’s meeting say they can’t let the space go to waste.

Lawmakers want to turn the building into an aquatic and fitness center.

An opening date is expected to be announced later this year.
