Fultonville woman faces drug charges after stop

A Fultonville woman is facing drug charges following a traffic stop.

Katie E. Newkirk, 31, was a passenger in a car stopped in in the village of Fonda at around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday for an unrelated warrant. Newkirk had meth, cocaine and various drug-related paraphernalia, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

She was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Newkirk was arraigned in Mohawk Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She is due back in court at a later date.
