A Capital Region high school student will soon benefit from a new scholarship created in memory of a former Saratoga Springs athlete.

The inaugural Mark Paine Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing was held on Monday at Ballston Spa Country Club.

More than 200 golfers teed it up for a father, brother, son and friend who died unexpectedly this past February. Mark Paine was 42 years old. He was the father of two young children.

Now there’s a scholarship in his name with the goal of creating a foundation that can give back to local organizations that share the same values Mark had.
