Greene County man accused of armed burglary

A Greene County man is facing charges after an armed burglary in Westerlo.

Joseph M. Sciancalepore, 19, of Freehold is accused of forcing entry into a home on Tuesday at around 8:20 p.m. He was armed with a knife, investigators aid.

Sciancalepore injured an adult victim and damaged the home, police said. The knife was not used to harm the adult victim. However, they were hurt, said police. A 17-year-old child inside was OK.

Sciancalepore left before police arrived. He was found about four hours later and arrested.

Sciancalepore was charged with burglary, menacing, assault, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Westerlo Town Court and released under the supervision of the Albany County Probation Department.
