Mothers in the Capital Region are receiving support from a statewide health plan.

Fidelis Care is giving $20,000 to the Mom Starts Here program. That program works with Capital Region families throughout their parenting journey. The funding will play a key role in ensuring safe pregnancies and healthy babies.

Founder Kyle Schmidt said the program aims to help parents who face barriers in life.

The grant from Fidelis Care is one of nine grants awarded to organizations across the state.
