Group to open space at Albany Med to help patients with breast cancer

Albany Medical Center has a new partnership to help those battling breast cancer.

The breast cancer support group called To Life will have a private space within the hospital. They can meet with patients and offer supportive counseling.

The new space will be located at the South Clinical Campus, located at 25 Hackett Blvd.

To Life offers counseling, peer mentoring, educational and wellness programs to people with breast cancer. They also have boutique fitting services to help people who have hair loss.

“To Life! and Albany Medical Center share a common mission of improving the health of our communities,” said Dennis P. McKenna, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Albany Med Health System. “Partnerships such as this are vital to our commitment to attaining the highest standard of quality in care delivery that patients throughout our region have grown to know us for.”

Staff will start to see patients on Dec. 19 by appointment only.

To Life provides support in many forms, not just support groups. It is covered by most insurance.
