Guilderland School District must pay $4.75 million in tax refunds to Crossgates
School district to shell out $4.75M in tax refunds
The Guilderland Central School District is paying back $4.75 million to Crossgates Mall.
It is a refund of taxes paid by the mall. The owners of Crossgates were successful in court at reducing their property tax assessment from $282 million to $177 million. They had challenged the assignment on the grounds that COVID-19 and store closures have diminished the mall’s value.
The Times Union was the first to report the story.
