The North Hoosick Fire Department is making changes to its long-standing traditions of hosting dances for young students, after an incident at the fire station.
The department has hosted dances at the firehouse for more than 25 years.
An older student who should not have been at the dance was asked to leave, last Friday night. That student became combative, the department said, and the student showed a knife outside. No one got hurt.
However, now the dances will only be for students in fourth to seventh grade, and no older than 13 years old.
Staff may also set up a checkpoint before entering the dance.
