The search for a bald eagle with an injured wing has ended in Washington County.
Local leaders and law enforcement had received calls about the eagle, which was spotted at various locations around the county.
It appeared to have a droopy wing and difficulty flying, callers said. Each time someone attempted to capture it, the eagle escaped.
Environmental Conservation police responded to a resident’s yard in the town of Cambridge, where he saw the eagle near a small pond unable to take flight.
An officer captured the bird with the assistance of nearby residents and safely took it to a rehabilitation facility for further treatment.
It had leg bands that show it was also captured as a chick in Massachusetts in 2002.
